London Bridge redevelopment will benefit from a bespoke glazing system from Prater

Prater to supply bespoke glazing for London Bridge redevelopment

  • 23 Oct 2015

Specialist contractor Prater has been awarded a contract to design, engineer and install a bespoke structural glazing system as part of the ongoing redevelopment of the iconic London Bridge station.

Since November 2013, Prater has been on-site at London Bridge carrying out design, supply and installation work – including the fabrication and installation of the pre-cast concrete platforms, in addition to roof canopies with associated high level glazing.

The company has now been appointed by lead contractor Costain to install a glazing package across the platform level, street level and retail areas.

The platform and street level system will be installed along the St Thomas Street façade and – in a later phase of the project – a 260 m2 SU72 shopfront glazing screen will be added to the retail area.

The 10-week programme on the St Thomas façade is due to begin in late 2015, with the six-week SU72 installation currently scheduled for Summer 2017.

Prater Managing Director Gaving Hamlbett said that the company is delighted to continue its successful relationship with Costain.

He commented: “We are extremely proud to once again contribute to the development of a London landmark with our expert design and engineering services.”
