Advanced’s Axis AX fire integration panels have been specified for an Arizonian high school, saving the institution approximately £14k on a retrofit installation.
As a certified Advanced systems integrator, Alarm Electronics & Communications was contracted to update Coconino High School’s existing fire detection system by Arizona’s Flagstaff Unified School District.
Since its opening in 1967, the school has suffered several lightning strikes and undergone two remodels. During its latest refurbishment, school officials noticed that the building’s existing non-addressable 30 zone hardwired fire system was unstable and obsolete in parts.
At almost 30 years old, the system’s fire panels were limited. However, to keep track of wire length impedances and device current draws, the contractor could not replace each device and connect it to a panel and auto-program.
The fire system also had to be kept partially running, as school classes were in summer session, posing further problems throughout the installation.
Advanced’s Axis AX intelligent fire panels were specified to address these issues. Boasting four filtered and voltage regulated SLC addressable circuits, the replacement system was able to accommodate the existing wiring types, methods and length.
Alarm Electronics & Communications made several modifications to the school’s existing smoke detectors before retrofitting the new equipment to the current hardwired system. This allowed for significant cost savings.
Whilst possessing working proficiency with older fire systems, Axis AX boasts contemporary functionality and visibility; the panels allow for complete system control and interrogation.
The fire integration panels are also able to indicate the precise location of a problem, should one occur.
