Creating a domestic accessible washroom with Clos-o-Mat

Clos-o-Mat issues design guidance for domestic accessible washrooms

  • 15 Feb 2016

As it is important that homes are adapted to suit the specific needs of their occupants, Clos-o-Mat has produced a new white paper, which advises on the successful adaptation of domestic accessible washrooms.

According to the company, bathroom adaptations are the most common form of home alterations.

Lifetime Homes’ standards have been revised to account for personal hygiene issues: a hoist and a ground floor toilet must now be included in new build designs, for example.

‘Design Guidance & Considerations for a Domestic Accessible Toilet/Wetroom’

Clos-o-Mat’s new guide, which is entitled ‘Design Guidance & Considerations for a Domestic Accessible Toilet/Wetroom’, offers advice to ensure that all aspects affecting the functionality and practicality of a domestic accessible bathroom are considered when change is required.

The white paper also outlines several important considerations: it explains how changing a door from swinging to sliding can aid manoeuvrability by creating additional space, and how certain colours can be used to help people with visual impairments.
