Integral eared socket for cast iron pipes

Integral eared sockets added to Alumasc’s cast iron spun pipes

  • 16 Mar 2016

Alumasc Rainwater has upgraded its cast iron spun pipes to include integral eared sockets for improved performance.

Boasting 70 years of experience in casting gutters, Alumasc’s rainwater guttering and downpipes are manufactured from cast iron and frequently specified for installation on British heritage and period properties.

The company’s cast iron spun pipes, which are completely recyclable, are coated in Apex certified protective paint. A number of heritage colours are available for specification.

Integral eared sockets

The cast iron spun pipes have been developed to include integral eared sockets, allowing for an improvement in the constancy of the wall thickness, and the smoothness of the pipe internal bore.

Alumasc Rainwater utilised its advanced spinning technology to develop the unique, integrated solution: for similar cast iron products on the market, socket ears are generally glued or bonded to the pipe, which can compromise both the quality and the appearance of the product.
