Around 215,000 people will be employed by the construction sector within the West Midlands by 2020, according to a recent report in the Birmingham Post.
The report states that growth in infrastructure over the next 5 years will see an additional 10,200 new jobs created, as investment increases to regenerate certain areas of the city such as Arena Central and Paradise Circus.
Despite the well documented skills shortage within the construction sector, this will be seen as excellent news.
According to the report, which is based on research by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), the commercial and infrastructure sectors are expected to make the largest contribution with respective annual average gains of 4.1 percent and 2.6 percent over the forecast period.
Specialist recruiters within the area such as PSR Recruitment will also benefit from the boost in trade, now able to provide their candidates with multiple opportunities for the labouring trade including; brick layers, steel erectors and civil engineers.
New builds such as office blocks and commercial buildings, alongside residential districts are expected to make a huge difference in the area, as construction output in the region is predicted to grow at an annual average rate of 1.7 percent.
