Wraptite-SA specified to deliver zero carbon homes to Shanghai

A zero carbon housing project featuring Wraptite-SA airtight membrane has been built as part of the Shanghai Art & Design Exhibition at the Shanghai West Bund Art Centre.

The ZED Pod Home has been created by the ZEDfactory as a solution for urban expansion – which is estimated to account for nearly 50% of the economy’s annual carbon footprint.

The ZEDfactory concept suggests that major cities expand from the centre outwards, with the addition of a ring road every 15 years or less.

Instead of creating large areas of demolition, the ZED Pod Home can be easily moved into the next available ring when required.

Wraptite-SA has been installed as part of the panel construction of the home, applied externally to the OSB boards in continuous pieces.

The self-adhering vapour permeable air barrier makes a significant contribution to the building’s thermal performance by preventing air leakage and allows good indoor air quality by allowing dry sheathing to dry quickly and moisture vapour to escape.

The membrane fully bonds to any substrate, requiring no mechanical attachment, seals or tapes to suppress air leakage around junctions or penetrations.
