A hard-wearing and fast-applied flooring system from Sika has been fitted at the premises of a Leicester-based printing company, to provide long-term performance and durability with minimal disruption during installation.

Sika’s flooring systems are designed to meet all the industry requirements for mechanical and chemical resistance, impermeability and fire resistance.

Label Apeel contacted Central Flooring Services after purchasing an old hosiery factory in Thurmaston, Leicestershire. The printing company found that the production floors were pitted, in poor condition and required a complete overhaul before they could be used.

Central Flooring Services recommended a high performance Sika flooring solution that would meet the requirements for durability with the floors subjected to the daily impact of heavy machinery, forklift trucks and footfall.

Label Apeel also required a system which could be installed in just two weeks.

The system consisted of a Sikafloor 161 primer, which was applied after shot blasting the existing surface, in addition to more than 1,700m2 of the fast-setting Sikafloor Level 30 mortar to level the surface of the factory floor.

It was completed with two coats of Sikafloor 264 to create an aesthetically appealing finish prior to the reinstatement of expansion joints.
