Glazing Vision’s Secure and Secure+ rooflights have achieved full compliance with the new Building Regulations Approved Document Q: Security in Dwellings
Part Q has undergone several changes: now, a person that wishes to fit rooflights in easily accessible areas must ensure that complaint products are specified for installation.
These developments are predicted to have a significant effect on domestic dwellings with flat roof single storey extensions, where windows are likely to be within 2 vertical metres of the roof or an accessible level surface.
Glazing Vision’s Secure and Secure+ rooflights have achieved full compliance with Approved Document Q, making them suitable for installation in such areas.
The rooflights have been successfully tested to the latest LPS2081:1 2015 standard, which imitates an archetypal stealth attack in a residential area.
Rooflights with the ‘Secure’ rating have been achieved a security rating A, meaning that they are able to withstand a sustained attack for up to one minute; ‘Secure+’ products are able to resist an attack of up to three minutes.
The range has also received accreditation from the Loss Prevention Certification Board, issued by the BRE, as well as recognition by the police security initiative, Secured by Design.
Complaint products include Glazing Vision’s fixed Flushglaze rooflight range, which comprises solo, modular and wall abutted variants, and its VisionVent range of hinged ventilation rooflights.
