A range of IKO roofing products have been used to replace the flat and pitched roofs at Gorse Hill Primary School in Stretford, including the manufacturer’s IKOslate polymer tiles.

On the pitched roof, all 16 dormers were redesigned using IKOslate, the company’s robust and durable polymer tiles.

IKOslate specified for its economical and environmental credentials. Paul Thompson, IKO’s Divisional Sales Manager, commented how the product differs from traditional slate:

“Using traditional slate, wastage from breaks while cutting can be as much as 10%, but this doesn’t arise with IKOslate. There’s no need to over-order to allow for breakages, and little waste to dispose of – making IKOslate a very economical product.”

IKOslate is a lightweight alternative to traditional slate, manufactured from mineral reinforced, 99 percent recycled and re-engineered materials. The tiles can be cut on site safely and any offcuts are 100 percent recyclable.
