SFS infill walling for Elephant and Castle regeneration

SFS infill walling specified for sustainable Elephant and Castle regeneration

  • 6 Jul 2016

Metsec is providing its SFS infill walling products to Masterplan Phase 1 of the Elephant and Castle regeneration project.

Once completed, the project will deliver a new community park, over 50 shops and restaurants and nearly 3,000 homes.

As one of the founding projects in the international Climate Positive Development Programme, the Elephant and Castle scheme places an emphasis on sustainability: the homes will feature environmental building innovations, such as water saving technology, and benefit from green roofs and walls.

The site will be equipped with a combined heat and energy centre; a biodiversity strategy will be rolled out across the development, and residents will be encouraged to use electric vehicles and public transport.

The Elephant and Castle aspires to be net carbon negative by 2020.

SFS infill walling

Since joining the project in 2015, Metsec has provided its SFS infill walling products, which will be used across the 11 apartment blocks that make up South Gardens, part of the larger Elephant Park.

Offering a quick water tight date, the SFS products have achieved a number of sustainability certifications: ‘ISO 14001 – Environmental Management’, ‘BES 6001 – Framework Standard for the Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products’ and ‘BCSA Steel Construction Sustainability Charter – Gold Standard’ are among these.

The walling products were designed and engineered to suit the project’s specific needs.
