ArmourFX Timber Effect panels

ArmourFX panels specified for social media inspired hotel design

  • 6 Jul 2016

ArmourFX Timber Effect panels have been specified for the renovation of Las Vegas’ new Linq Hotel.

Designed by Boston-based Elkus Manfredi Architects, the new establishment has replaced the original Imperial Palace hotel. Featuring 2,500 rooms, retail space, a full service spa and a casino, the hotel’s design was inspired by the millennial generation and its heavy use of social media.

The architects explored the idea of ‘Instagramable’ backdrops, installing a colour-changing bar and creating different tile patterns and murals on the walls to modernise Caesar’s outdated Imperial Palace establishment.

A series of custom-finished ArmourFX panels were specified to replicate the look of Mountain Pine Beetle blue-satin timber for a corridor in the hotel’s spa. Created from Douglas Fir planks, the Timber Effect panels were hand-worked to achieve the project’s desired aesthetic.

Particularly designed for decorative wall cladding, Armourcoat’s ArmourFX Timber Effect panels are available in four designs and colours. ‘Original’ and ‘Shuttered’ emphasise the grain of the wood, whilst ‘Cinder’ and ‘Rugged’ are distressed to give an aged texture.

To finish, all panels are cast in polymer-modified gypsum resin mix.
