The Window Company (Contracts) has achieved Silver Level 2 in the GLASS Charter scheme, according to the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF).
Introduced in 2001, after the glass industry adopted the Government’s Revitalising Health and Safety Initiative, the GGF GLASS Charter has been developed to encourage the Federation’s Members to improve health and safety standards.
The scheme, which runs in collaboration with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), has recently been updated to reflect HSE’s five-year strategy for continuous improvement.
As the Federation’s Health, Safety and Facilities Manager, Phil Pinnington was given the honour of awarding the GLASS Charter Certificate to David Thornton, Chairman of the Window Company (Contracts).
The prize was awarded following an arduous inspection process; guidance and information was provided to help the company to achieve Silver Level 2. The highest award available is the Gold Level, which the Window Company (Contracts) is now working to obtain.
The GGF hopes that other companies within the industry will follow the Window Company’s lead. Safer sites will result fewer accidents, creating secure working environments for employees, suppliers and visitors.
