Advanced fingerprint reader improves access control on construction sites

  • 15 Sep 2016

MSite has launched an advanced fingerprint reader, which has been developed to improve on-site security and access control in construction environments.

Developed by Human Recognition Systems (HRS), the MSite fingerprint touch screen system has been designed for use in construction settings. The reader can be operated via 3G/4G or wirelessly, eliminating the need for desktop control.

Most existing fingerprint readers have a simplistic red/green function, which is rendered confused by dirty hands; the MSite system combines a weatherproof sensor with an intuitive touch screen, making it a suitable access control solution for building sites. It is built to withstand harsh, external temperatures, ranging from 20˚C to 40˚C.

The wall-mounted system boasts the ability to match approximately 10,000 fingerprint templates; identification takes under a second. It is available in numerous languages to accommodate the construction industry’s diverse workforce.

Improving access control on-site

MSite offers additional configuration options: the system can be loaded with bespoke questions to ensure tight security, and pre-set to allow certain users PIN code access.

The system requires each user to confirm their understanding of its on-screen safety message, before allowing them access to the site. Health and Safety directors can utilise this feature to ensure that their latest procedural messages are delivered to all workers.

Should a user be denied access, the system provides feedback: for example, it can inform them if their accreditation has expired.
