Trimble has achieved a 2016 RISE Award for its Tekla Campus structural modelling software, which aims to tackle the skills shortage by familiarising students with BIM.
The RISE Awards aim to recognise revolutionary initiatives in construction and engineering across four areas: sustainability, innovation, enterprise and research.
The second annual RISE Awards ceremony was held at Leeds Beckett University, and hosted by the Leeds Sustainability Institute.
Trimble’s Tekla Campus structural modelling software has been developed for the benefit of students.
By equipping them with knowledge and skills in construction management, structural detailing and structural engineering, the system enables pupils to create 3D models with free downloadable software.
Tekla Campus provides a place for students to interact with others, whilst learning about Building Information Modelling (BIM) – now a prominent part of the construction industry. The skills it teaches are valued by construction professionals, and will enable students to meet the needs of their future employers.
The judges of the 2016 RISE Awards were impressed with the software, which promotes community learning. It supports students by enabling them to share their experience and training via their Tekla Campus project and supporting platforms.
For these reasons, the system was named the winner of the Education and Training category. Trimble was also praised for attempting to address the sector-wide skills shortage with the software.
