Black Millwork windows and doors at Rivercroft

Hampshire home benefits from Black Millwork windows and doors

  • 31 Oct 2016

Black Millwork has supplied its range of thermally-efficient timber fenestration to a residential renovation project, along with Anderson doors and windows.

Inspired by American Cape Cod style, Rivercroft is a residential property, based in Hampshire. For the past two years, its owners have aspired to expand it and improve its thermal performance.

Rivercroft is situated in an elevated location, overlooking Lymington Harbour. Whilst its privileged positon and proximity to the sea allows for beautiful views, it also makes it prone to salt-air attack; this can have a detrimental impact on the pH scale of building materials, and eventually lead to corrosion.

It is also susceptible to spells of unpredictable and adverse weather.

Tackling coastal corrosion

To future-proof their home, the owners specified Andersen 400 Series Woodwright Sliding Sash Windows and Andersen 400 Series Frenchwood Doorsets for installation throughout.

Incorporating Stormwatch protection, Anderson products are manufactured from exterior composite materials that can withstand corrosive coastal conditions.

Enhancing thermal performance

The thermal properties of Rivercroft were also important to its owners.

As statistics suggest that approximately 25% of a property’s heat loss is through its windows and doors, it is essential to specify efficient units in high quality materials to ensure the long-term performance of a home.

By utilising the latest developments in timber technology, Black Millwork is able to create energy efficient windows and doors, which surpass the industry’s stringent performance standards.

Its Timber Aluminium Clad Composite Bi-Fold Door sets were installed throughout Rivercroft; a Timber Feature Entrance Door was also fitted. Manufactured from engineered timber, these products make use of vacuum impregnated preservatives and full factory finishes to protect against heat loss.
