AA720 tilturn window passes CWCT extreme weather test successfully

  • 29 Nov 2016

Kawneer’s AA720 tilturn window has passed a CWCT Sequence B extreme weather test, providing specifiers additional reassurance of the windows premium performance in both new-build and refurbishment projects.

UKAS-accredited testing house Wintech carried out the CWCT (Centre for Window and Cladding Technology) Standard Test Method for Building Envelopes: December 2005 on a 6,300mm x 8,000mm sample size of Kawneer’s AA100 and AA100 HI curtain wall system.

Kawneer tests all its curtain wall systems to CWCT with an opening window incorporated into them as standard practice, and in the instance, Kawneer incorporated its inward-opening 1326mm x 1601mm high AA720 HI Reflex tilturn window into the screen for the CWCT test.

Wintech tested the system for air leakage (600 Pa), water penetration (600 Pa), and wind resistance (2400 Pa), a single drop of water ingress would result in a fail. The pressure on the screen was also raised to 3600 Pa (approximately 160mph) as part of the safety testing and the test was passed without any issues.
