Specialist Bathroom Products at BMI The Somerfield Hospital

Hospital WC facility upgraded with Specialist Bathroom Products

  • 30 Nov 2016

Gradus has delivered SureProtect Pure hygienic wall cladding and Specialist Bathroom Products to improve sanitation and accessibility at BMI The Somerfield Hospital.

The Maidstone-based hospital is governed by independent healthcare provider, BMI Healthcare. The facility is registered for 38 beds; it also encompasses three operating theatres, three minor procedure rooms and several specialist clinics.

The main outpatient’s WC was recently targeted for refurbishment: the hospital aimed to improve hygiene levels, whilst improving access to the facility for its patients.

Gradus – a contract interiors company, which boasts experience in providing secure healthcare solutions – was contracted to carry out the refurbishment.

It specified a range of systems – including Maxima Specialist Bathroom Products and SureProtect Pure wall cladding – to meet the project’s requirements.

SureProtect Pure and Specialist Bathroom Products

Featuring a smooth surface, which is impervious to moisture and bacteria, the SureProtect Pure wall cladding is well-suited to hospital environments. It boasts compliance with a range of stringent hygiene standards.

It is easy to clean and largely unaffected by impact damage; these properties will help the hospital’s staff to maintain hygiene standards, whilst reducing the need for frequent replacements and maintenance costs.

The Maxima Specialist Bathroom Products were supplied in blue, to provide a visual contrast with the white wall cladding. Gradus’s team specified a Grab Rail and two Adjustable Support Arms to ensure inclusive access to the toilet, making it serviceable for a diverse range of patients.

All Maxima Specialist Bathroom Products have been designed and developed in conjunction with the guidelines in Approved Document M of the Building Regulation 2010.
