ScottishPower supplied with fire, escape and security solution

  • 9 Jan 2017

ScottishPower, part of the global energy company Iberdrola, has benefited from a compliant fire door solution supplied by Abloy UK, to secure its Battery Rooms without compromising on health, safety or aesthetics.

The energy management company required a number of fire doors across four sites to make up part of a passive fire protection system, designed to reduce the spread of fire and enable safe exit from a  building.

Whilst the specification prioritised on-site safety, it was also important for the steel fire doors to be aesthetically pleasing due to the age of the sites. It was also imperative that the locking elements of the hardware were fire-rated.

Steel fire doors by Abloy UK are complete with a non-combustible core and can be certified latched or unlatched (depending on size and configuration). Available in single and double leaf configurations, the doors are tested to BS 476 Part 22 and EN 1634-1:2008. They are also Certifire compliant and are regularly audited.

As part of the ScottishPower project, Abloy provided a full package with supply, delivery, removal, survey and install.
