IKO introduces new Hot Melt Waterproofing CPD

  • 25 Jan 2017

IKO PLC have a new RIBA-approved Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminar introducing architects and specifiers to the benefits of inverted roofs and hot melted monolithic waterproofing.

With a successful track record dating back over 50 years, Hot Melt Waterproofing systems provide a tough, flexible membrane that is suitable for use on most protected membrane roofs and structural waterproofing applications.

It has been specified on many prestigious UK buildings and is the preferred choice when long term performance, exceptional resistance to damage, on site installation and peace of mind is required.

Exploring the design considerations necessary for successful applications, Hot Melt Waterproofing: The Zero Falls Roof Solution discusses various examples in case studies. During the seminar, environmental benefits are explored as well as the lifetime performance of the system.

Candidates will also investigate the benefits of Hot Melt Systems in the seminar, and learn how difficult problems can be solved with simple solutions. There will also be the opportunity to examine different roof types, specification options, zero falls application, environmental developments and support services.

Life expectancy, cost implications, aesthetics, environmental factors, installation time and the versatility of application are crucial factors that must be considered when specifying a flat roof. Therefore, falls, thermal design, wind, fire, drainage movement and drainage issues are all concerns which are addressed and discussed as part of the CPD.

Completing the session will allow candidates to gain a greater awareness of different flat roof options and become confident in specifying flat roof waterproofing, no matter what the design.
