Vortice helped Architects Hinton Cook and their client Trio Square solve ventilation challenges at a Ryton upon Dunsmore development.
Two issues needed to be resolved, as part of the site had to comply to System 3 (MEV) of Building Regulations Part F and the other part of the site had to comply with System 4 (MVHR) as well as complying with planning guidance on noise ingress.
Tony Green-Hurst, Vortice’s Southern Specification Manager, with Vortice technical team advised the architects and builders on the best ventilation solution.
The System 3 Vort Leto, a centralised mechanical extract fan, was specified for those properties furthest away from the potential source of noise. Consequently, per habitable room, only one acoustic trickle vent would be required, therefore limiting the perforation in the building and subsequent noise ingress.
The Vort HR350 Avel Heat Recovery System was specified, on the other hand, for two further properties which were much closer to the noise source. As both extract and supply air is controlled through the unit, trickle vents are not required for this MVHR unit.
Good indoor air quality and energy efficiency for the householder is allowed with a 100% fully filtered bypass and high heat recovery efficiency.
Hinton Cook and Trio Square understood the challenges they faced and allowed Vortice to help them design the ideal ventilation system for each of their properties, Tony Green-Hurst of Vortice explained.
