Troldtekt acoustic ceiling panels - The Loom

Troldtekt wool ceiling panels connect history at the Loom

  • 19 Apr 2017

Architects Duggan Morris has converted one of East London’s oldest buildings – the Loom – from a wool warehouse into a modern office space. The project involved the relocation of its main entrance and provision of offices, staff breakout areas and a café.

In addition to unique features such as the woven metal entrance gates and bespoke artworks, another significant part of the project was the installation of Troldtekt 2000 x 600mm natural wool acoustic ceiling panels.

The ceiling panels link different spaces of the 100,000 square foot building and have been used in conjunction with many original old materials to restore life into the previously neglected space. The brick dividing walls previously in place have been cut through and the original steel supporting stanchions left.

The Grade II listed building has been recognised with a nomination at the London Region BCO Awards within the refurbishment/recycled workplace category.

Popular throughout Europe, Troldtekt natural wood wool celling panels can be used across a range of modern buildings and refurbished interiors. They can be specified to effectively tie spaces together with a attractive textured surfaces, whilst offering superior acoustic performance.

The inexpensive, eco-friendly panels can incorporate different lighting and speaker options, and provide high sound absorption, durability and natural breathability.

Available in various sizes and three grades, the panels are also certified to Cradle to Cradle silver level. Although most are used in their natural untreated state, they can also be painted in virtually any RAL colour.
