Gilberts announces consecutive accident-free year

  • 2 Jun 2017

Gilberts of Blackpool has announced a second consecutive accident-free year.

The achievement comes despite more thorough and pro-active reporting and managing procedures across the 93,500 square foot factory and warehouse.

Safety is of utmost importance at the facility, which uses heavy amounts of aluminium, steel and dyes for processing the metal and utilising metal presses, transport buggies and forklift trucks.

Ian Rogers, Gilberts Sales Director: “According to the Health & Safety Executive, 70,000 workers suffer an injury at work each year; the metallic manufacturing industry is among the top five sectors for risk.

We are rightly proud and believe therefore that it’s impressive that, as a company, we have not had one reportable accident for two years running.

We are family run, and have a ethos that our employees are part of that extended family. We operate to levels that mirror BS OHSAS 18001. We have also put into place a pro-active, corrective regime to improve our safe systems of work, and to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff.”
