Stannah is celebrating 150 years of engineering with various events, initiatives and online resources to encourage staff, customers and the public to celebrate this landmark in British engineering.
Stannah was originally established in 1867 by Joseph Stannah and made hoists and cranes for London’s dockyards. However, the Stannah factory was destroyed during WW2 and rebuilt by the family into the household name it is today.
Stannah has made a timeline of its history, as well as exclusive heritage images, available on the new 150 web page.
The main contributor to the success of the company is the hard work and loyalty of its staff. There are members of the team who have dedicated their whole working lives to the business, particularly in Test Valley, Hampshire, where Stannah is one of the biggest employers in the borough. Fundraising is important to the Stannah family, therefore, throughout 2017, the business will be running a 150% match funding programme.
The Stannah product and services portfolio has seen 150 years of change and now includes homelifts; platform, passenger, service and goods lifts; stairlifts; escalators; moving walkways; loading systems and maintenance services delivered locally from 11 nationwide locations.
