Polyflor creates safe and stylish apartments

  • 17 Aug 2017

Polyflor vinyl sheet flooring and Polysafe safety flooring has been installed throughout apartments on the Belle View social housing development in Newport.

Main contractor Willis Construction specified approximately 1400m2 of Designatex PUR sheet vinyl flooring, Polysafe Wood fx PUR and Polysafe Arena PUR safety flooring to be installed during the interior fit out phase by Evabuild Interiors Ltd.

The thirteen modern apartments for housing association Pobl Group incorporated the Platinum Oak grey wood effect design from Polyflor’s Designatex collection of vinyl sheet flooring for residential interiors. The flooring was used throughout the bedroom, living room and kitchen areas in each apartment.

The vinyl flooring is available in 12 wood effect and 6 stone effect designs and 2, 3 and 4 metre widths. Designatex has a 3.0mm wear layer, a textile backing for easy installation and offers a 17dB impact sound reduction.

High clarity timber effect Polysafe Wood fx safety flooring in the Roasted Limed Oak design was also used in communal areas.

Both collections feature in-built sustainable wet slip resistance due to the aggregates through the performance layer. The products are also fully HSE Compliant and classified as low slip potential, achieving 36+ on the Pendulum Wet Test and a surface roughness of 20 microns +, fully conforming to the European Safety Flooring Standard EN 13845.

All flooring used on the project features a PUR polyurethane reinforcement which helps prevent stains and scuff marks. In addition, they are 100% recyclable via the Recofloor vinyl take back scheme and achieve Indoor Air Comfort Gold certification for low VOC emissions.
