Tekla software at Dudley College

Tekla software training offered to budding construction apprentices

  • 15 Sep 2017

Trimble Solutions (UK) has provided budding apprentices at Dudley College of Technology with access to Tekla Campus software, in support of CADCOE’s training initiative.

Earlier this year, CADCOE started working with Dudley College to offer training for apprentices entering the construction and engineering sectors, within specialist facilities.

The course on offer is an intensive, 16-week program, which has been designed to equip new apprentices with knowledge of digital construction before they enter the workplace on a full-time basis.

By introducing delegates to Tekla software, the course will equip them with the necessary skills and experience, such as knowledge of 2D and 3D design, to work on in-depth design and detailing projects.

‘In the past six years, since launching the training model, it has been brilliant to see the benefits employers are reaping through gaining an apprentice who is fully competent in Tekla software,’ comments Daniel Leech, Managing Director of CADCOE.

By providing Tekla training resources at the Dudley College Advance II centre, the company hopes to further contribute to the reduction of the industry skills shortage.

Tekla Campus

To support CADCOE’s initiative, Trimble Solutions (UK) has provided the training provider with access to Tekla Campus, via which students will be able to take online lessons about the software and practice their 3D model building capabilities.

Designed to bridge the gap between a theoretical education and the practical workplace, the portal also offers access to industry case studies, demonstrating how end users are utilising Tekla software to reduce costs and scheduling on projects.

In addition, Tekla Campus enables students to build a portfolio, which they can showcase to potential and future employers.
