Safe access platforms at Sunderland Royal Hospital

Bespoke safe access platforms delivered to Sunderland Royal Hospital

Kee Systems has delivered a number of bespoke safe access platforms to Sunderland Royal Hospital, enabling safe access to the plant and equipment situated on the roof of the new Emergency Department.

As part of a multi-million pound regeneration and extension project, Sunderland Royal Hospital has gained a new Emergency Department.

The roof of the new department was fitted with plant and equipment by H Malone & Sons. When pipework and ducting presented access issues to a number of the new air conditioning units, H Malone reached out to Kee Systems for a solution.

Kee Systems undertook a comprehensive site survey, before recommending the installation of several bespoke access platforms.

Tailored safe access platforms

To enable safe access to the roof’s obstructed and difficult-to-reach areas, Kee Systems constructed several bespoke access platforms, using Kee Klamp fittings to ensure each structure was built to the hospital’s precise requirements.

A standard hex key was used to install the fittings, saving significant time and eliminating the need for specialist tools and hot works on site: this was crucial, considering the work was being carried out in a live hospital environment.

The platforms were designed and built according to current standards and legislation, including the Work at Height Regulations, BS5395: Part 3 and EN: 14122, BS 1139-6:2005 or PAS 250.
