Rooflights perfect for farm barn conversion

  • 20 Sep 2017

Rooflights supplied by Glazing Vision have helped aid the conversion of an award nominated heritage-listed farm barn.

Church Hill Barn, on the Suffolk/Essex border, has been fitted with Glazing Vision’s Flushglaze fixed rooflights, with the restoration project being shortlisted for the Sunday Times British Homes Awards 2017, in the Restoration of the Year category.

Architect David Nossiter specified two Flushglaze roofllights, which were to be installed into the existing roof apertures.

These generously sized rooflights allow vast amounts of daylight to stream down from the roof deep into the centre of the enormous house, whilst at the same time, clients have wide ranging, panoramic views of the stunning landscape.

The rooflights, which were precision-engineered at the company’s factory in Norfolk lack an internal frame, ensuring that they did not detract from the impactful wooden ceiling structure or the lofty air feel of the atrium below.

In preserving the distinctive historical character of the formerly derelict barn, David Nossiter has also managed to successfully intergrate a contemporary aesthetic.

His clients previously recalled the barn being ‘black and falling apart’, are said to be delighted with their new, light-filled family home, which offers ‘a panoramic view of the country, that changes with the weather.’
