Epic Leicester protection from C-TEC nothing to keep hush about

  • 23 Nov 2017

C-TEC’s revolutionary hush buttons, which act as mini fire alarms, are protecting Epic House, a luxurious set of apartments in Leicester.

Connected to one of C-TEC’s 4-loop ZFP touchscreen addressable fire panels, the hush buttons allow residents to silence false alarms themselves, for instance, if a fire alarm is set off accidentally for whatever reason, i.e the burning of food.

The obvious benefit of this will be the prevention of any full-scale evacuation of the building that could occur.

The project was carried out by specialist fire company ICU Security Solutions Ltd.

Akbar Mahomed, on behalf of the company, commented: “C-TEC’s Hush buttons were specified in the pre-installation meetings to increase levels of fire protection in the 48 apartments. There have been a number of incidents at the building since we completed the installation and the hush buttons have proved very effective.”

A series of innovative systems feature throughout the ZFP touchscreen, further enhancing levels of fire protection at the 12-storey building. An example of this is certain windows and vents being programmed to open automatically in the event of a fire.

Zaheer Latif, from ICU, added: The ZFP’s capacity for cause and effects is very impressive and the panel’s touchscreen makes programming simple and straightforward.”
