CMS Window Systems have supplied windows, doors and curtain walling for a new, 330-unit student accommodation residence in Glasgow.
Situated in the heart of the city, this project saw CMS play a crucial part in enabling Church Lukas architects, alongside main contractor GRAHAM Construction, to deliver the eye-catching, £20 million Elgin Place development.
The new fourteen storey building features a ‘glass box’ structure for the upper floors, providing a modern addition to Glasgow’s skyline.
CMS Window Systems, who are one of Scotland’s leading company’s in this sphere, were appointed by GRAHAM for this project thanks to the strength of their track record for high quality solutions in student accommodation projects.
The £1.4 million fenestration programme, lasting almost six months, saw CMS fabricate and install a combination of aluminium curtain walling screens, doors, a rooflight and 160 windows.
Elgin Place provides 330 rooms over 14 floors with a large ground floor retail space, with 5% of the overall accommodation capacity designed specifically for students with physical impairment; all standard rooms feature facilities for those who suffer with hearing or visual issues.
CMS applied Metal Technology systems throughout the project to ensure the windows and doors would offer quality, with the ability to perform well, visually and functionally, in the future.
This included across the eight curtain walling screens and rooflight, with all the windows using being assured reliable structural integrity, thermal enhancement, weather performance and security.
Regional Managing Director at GRAHAM Construction, Gary Holmes, commented: “The Elgin Place project at 240 Bath Street has given new life to a prominent location in the heart of Glasgow and we’re delighted to have successfully delivered it.
“Working with CMS Window Systems has been crucial in ensuring we deliver the highest quality result for the client and provide generations of students with a comfortable, safe, secure and visually appealing home during their academic years in Glasgow.”
