MyGlazing.com’s ‘Window with a View’ competition, celebrating window views and energy efficient glazing, has gone the way of an incredible walkway in London’s Tower Bridge (GGF News).
From an awe-inspiring final shortlist of 11, which featured Manchester’s Cloud 23 and Dolbadarn Castle in Wales, the Tower Bridge glass wonder was voted the winner of the 2017 event.
Further strong competition came from The Lighthouse, Glasgow, and Emirates Spinnaker in Portsmouth.
Tower Bridge’s victorious glass floor is 11 metres long by 1.8 metres wide and is made up of laminated glass panels each weighing 530kg.
There is one of these glass features on each of the landmark’s high-level walkways, looking over one of the world’s most famous bridges, providing an incredible bird’s view of the River Thames.
James Lee, GGF Group Director of Marketing and Communications, presented the national award.
“The glass walkway has not just made for a stunning image of glass architecture but it is also a great advert for the performance of laminated glass,” James commented.
In only its second year, the Window with a View competition has grown in popularity, now becoming a great part on the GGF’s consumer website MyGlazing.com – which this year has seen nearly 200,000 unique users visit.
The competition is designed to celebrate the country’s most visually arresting views, whilst promoting the benefits of modern, clear and energy efficient glazing both in and out the home.
