Solid wood is a popular choice for homes due to its durability and stylish appearance, however, there are some vital steps you should follow before laying the floor to give it the best star possible.
Before laying the floor you should first ensure that you use your heating or air conditioning as normal for at least five days before introducing the flooring into the room.
The flooring should then be laid out, preferably stacked in a way that allows the air and humidity to be distributed and each half metre per plank to be supported to prevent bowing.
Finally, you should leave the floor for 5-7 days to give the wood flooring a chance to settle and even contract or expand, depending on the temperature and humidity of the room. In addition, if you leave the floor in its original packaging, be sure to open the top slightly to allow air and heat to infiltrate the package.
Following these steps will give your wood flooring the best possible chance and help avoid catastrophes when the floor is installed.
