Boost your understanding of rainwater drainage with Harmer CPD

  • 31 Jan 2018

The latest RIBA-approved CPD from Harmer Drainage: a deep insight into contemporary rainwater drainage systems and the importance they hold in protecting buildings from water damage.

The 60 minute seminar, called ‘Internal Rainwater Drainage – Design and Specification’, sets out to educate architects and engineers about the major benefits of a well-designed drainage system.

The CPD analyses national and regional rainfall characteristics, with how it affects design and product choice, plus information on how to meet the British Standard requirements for gravity drainage systems.

Seminar attendees will be able to relate different roof constructions with the detailing of rainwater outlets, as well as identify pipe materials and methods of connection, and fathom the need for robust specification in rainwater systems.

Also included is maintenance, inspections and incorporating blue and green roof systems.

The Harmer seminar forms part of RIBA’s CPD core curriculum, where architects have to undertake 20 hours CPD on these core subjects per year, plus an additional 15 hours on topics of their choice.

Harmer’s National Sales Manager Wayne Willmott, who wrote the CPD, says it is ‘vital’ for architects and engineers to make time for rainwater drainage systems in order to avoid roofing failures.
