Laddertag

Share vital safety info on your ladders with Laddertag

  • 21 Mar 2018

The Laddertag can help prevent accidents caused by defective or worn out ladders and steps. On top of this, it has been aligned with the new BS EN 131 product standard for portable ladders.

Accidents with ladders often happen due to them either being the wrong type of ladder, it is being used incorrectly or it is in poor condition.

Laddertag comes with a holder which is permanently attached to a ladder, and inserts that can be removed.

The inserts communicate:

  • a ladder inspection trail
  • up to 12 planned inspections
  • inspector signatures
  • a unique ladder reference
  • the main ladder purpose and use
  • a ladder inspection checklist (on reverse)

After the ladder has undergone inspection, the inspector adds a signature if the ladder is deemed fit for use. If not, the insert is removed, leaving only the holder, which shows a clear ‘Do not use’ message.

If no inspection has taken place, the ladder should not be used until one has occurred.

A guide has been released which contains tips on safe ladder use, which has been updated to align with BS EN 131.

Having ladder inspection guide posters in a workplace can better safety by making sure employees are aware of regulations and dangers.

The poster is a useful on-site reminder for essential components and checks when working with ladders.
