Celebrating REHAU’s VinylPlus certification

  • 21 May 2018

REHAU is demonstrating its longstanding commitment to sustainable development after receiving the product label from VinylPlus, which recognises its sustainable manufacturing processes.

VinylPlus is the voluntary sustainable development programme for the European PVC industry, aiming at developing a long-term sustainability framework for the whole PVC value chain.

REHAU has been the given the certification from VinylPlus for each of its four European window plants, plus a number of window profiles, including TOTAL70, at this year’s Fensterbau Frontale.

This comes as REHAU celebrated its 60th anniversary, further serving to complement REHAU’s ongoing work to continually improve its sustainability.

Martin Hitchin, Chief Executive at REHAU, said the company was ‘delighted’ to receive the VinylPlus certification, describing it as another ‘feather’ in its ‘sustainable cap’.

“Across the business we are working to continue to improve our green credentials – from looking at our plants, to the products themselves. Our TOTAL70 co-extruded product is now a hugely popular alternative, which offers all of the advantages of the mono-extruded product.

“The core of the profile is made up entirely of post-consumer waste, with only the outer skin made of new polymer for a flawless finish.”

REHAU are planning to continue this success, including setting European targets to produce up to 50% of window profiles from European plants with recycled polymer core by 2020.
