Sidey sees success of ten-year environmental plan

  • 29 May 2018

Sidey is celebrating the success of its ten-year environmental plan, having reduced its waste landfill to zero and working hard to achieve 100 percent recycling from its manufacturing plant.

Since the plan launched in 2008, Sidey has significantly improved its environmental impact to increase the amount of recycled materials used and equally, working hard to recycle as much material as possible. Sidey works hard to keep factory work and installations as environmentally friendly as possible.

Robert Fitzpatrick, Group Accreditations Manager-HSQE at Scotland’s strongest fabricator, drives the initiative. Robert comments: “We now have zero landfill from our manufacturing facilities and 90-100 percent recyclable recoverable waste, which is a massive improvement from the eight to nine percent ten years ago, when we started the scheme.”

Sidey has achieved the top environmental accreditation ISO 14001:2015, and has achieved 100 percent recycling from its manufacturing waste every year since 2015.

Robert concludes: “We proactively promote sustainability at all levels of our business […] Our dedication to the environment doesn’t stop with us. We also have a robust and comprehensive process for any sub-contractors we use so that we deliver the exact same high standards on site. Sidey works in partnership with our clients’ stakeholders and interested parties by promoting a sustainable environment. This also helps local authorities, housing associations, RSLs, developers and clients increase their environmental commitments.”
