The environmentally friendly Thermoslate from CUPA PIZARRAS

  • 20 Jun 2018

CUPA PIZARRAS is pushing to be more environmentally friendly with Thermoslate, the roof solar system that converts sunlight to energy for central heating.

thermoslate_newsletterThermoslate is a solar collector that generates renewable, clean and environmentally friendly energy whilst offering aesthetics to suit any architectural design. Thermoslate offers the benefits of solar panels but doesn’t dominate the appearance of the roof as they are undetectable once installed.

The main component of the system uses natural slate sources from a number of Cupa Pizarras’ quarries throughout Northwest Spain. According to the Inventory of Carbon and Energy at the University of Bath, natural slate as a material has the least negative effects on the environment.

One family of five recently had seven Thermoslate collectors installed onto their roof, resulting in 76% of their heating, hot water and pool heating being covered by the collectors.

For peace of mind, the natural slate has a lifespan of up to 150 years and requires minimum maintenance.
