EGGER flooring for Boccia World Championships

  • 13 Aug 2018

EGGER Protect is forming the sub floor for the competition courts at the 2018 Boccia World Championship, showcasing it can provide a top class surface for world class competition.

Boccia is a Paralympic sport for athletes with high support needs; the objective is to beat your opponent by getting your balls closer to the white ball.

In Boccia, anything goes – balls can be thrown, rolled or even kicked.

From 12 – 18 August, 1384 pieces of EGGER Protect will cover almost 2000 square metres of the Exhibition Centre Liverpool.

The robust and durable surface of EGGER’s flagship structural flooring board is perfect for coping with the fierce competition, as 190 athletes from across the globe compete ahead of the 2020 Toyko Paralympic Games.

EGGER has worked in partnership with Sheffield-based timber merchant, Arnold Laver, throughout the project.

Alan White, Director of Sales for EGGER Building Products, said the company hopes to help deliver the best World Boccia Championships ever seen and added it is delighted to be a part of a sport that ‘truly captures the spirit of the Paralympics.’

Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.echoarena.com/worldboccia
