Changing places with Closomat at Bracknell town centre

  • 9 Jan 2019

A newly redeveloped town centre, billed as ‘the next generation in shopping and leisure’, has taken this mantra through to its customer facilities, courtesy of Closomat.

The Lexicon Bracknell, represents one of the biggest town centre regenerations nationwide, investing over the £240 million to transform the area.

IT has added 70 new shops and restaurants, and a new look a state of the art assisted, accessible toilet – a Closomat Changing Places.

The facility means anyone who needs help to go to the toilet when away from home can relax and enjoy the venue, knowing appropriate toilets are on hand.

Supplied and installed by Closomat, the UK leader in away from home assisted accessible toileting, the Changing Places incorporates a WC, adult-sized height adjustable changing bench, washbasin, and ceiling track hoist.

It compliments The Lexicon’s existing accessible toilets, and is located adjacent to them, in The Avenue Car Park. All of the disabled toilet facilities are accessed via RADAR key, and are available during The Lexicon opening hours.

Local Changing Places campaigner Suze Woodley, whose son Luke has cerebral palsy, commented: “It is great news that The Lexicon designers have included these facilities. Without them, my family and I, and thousands like us, either have to limit the time we spend somewhere, or not go at all.

“Now, as a family we can go into Bracknell, to shop, go to the cinema, eat, and relax knowing there are suitable toilet facilities.

“Let’s hope more shopping and leisure venues follow The Lexicon’s example.”

Under Building Regulations and British Standards, a Changing Places should be provided in any facilities to which numbers of the public have access, and/or spend a length of time.
