The ‘Green Building Solutions’ summer school offers an insight into how Vienna has become a world leader in environmental construction.
The course has been designed to update construction professionals on the latest thinking in green technologies.
The summer school will allow building engineers, architects, surveyors and construction & project managers to build on their knowledge of sustainability.
It will also examine how Vienna’s collaborative approach can be adapted to introduce Britain to more sustainable construction techniques.
Running for three weeks this summer, the course has been organised by the OeAD-Housing Office and the BOKU University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences.
It comprises three modules – Sustainability in Building and Urban Planning, Principles of Passive House Planning and Renewable Energies and Business Concepts – and ends with a collaborative project.
In the final project, participants will be asked to combine their knowledge and pool together their experiences from the course to design an effective ‘green’ building.
After completing summer school, they will be awarded with seven ECTS points; the course has been designed as a modular university course.
For professionals, the cost of the course is 2,490; students will be asked to pay 2,000.
These prices include passive house accommodation in Vienna, which will be provided by the OeAD-Housing Office.
The course will take place from 25th July until 16th August.
