External wall insulation systems specified to increase energy efficiency

The large housing estate of terraced properties is managed by Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) who appointed Effective Energy to deliver funding under the ECO initiative for EWI as part of its on-going programme of development at Victoria Estate.

CPM Contracts installed Alumasc EWI systems to 109 properties in order to provide an energy efficient, weatherproof exterior to the solid brick construction homes

The initiative also included solar panels, energy efficient boilers and roof and facia soffit repairs.

Swisslab & Swistherm Systems

CPM Contracts – a registered Alumasc contractor – installed the Swisslab and Swistherm EWI systems to 109 properties in total.

The Swisslab EWI system was fitted to the lower halves of the properties, to provide a weatherproof exterior resistant to impact damage.

The Swistherm EWI system was installed to the upper wall areas, incorporating a tinted, high performance Silkolitt silicone render.

Both EWI systems feature enhanced thermal performance as a result of the 90mm EPS insulation forming part of both systems.

CPM specified both systems in order to fulfil the client’s brief requiring the refurbished properties to blend in with the privately owned houses on the Yorkshire estate.

The differing number of outbuildings and building details required specific angle beading to be incorporated to allow for a smooth profile at the properties.

Energy Efficient

Ian Carter, Managing Director at CPM, was impressed after his first experience with Alumasc’s EWI systems:

“The finished result is excellent and we’ve already specified Alumasc EWI at our next project which sees the refurbishment of another 100 properties in the area.”

Victoria Estate occupants have already benefitted from Alumasc’s BBA approved systems, with gas costs being reduced by over 50% for one resident.
