The Tincan restaurant serves seafood to diners in tins
DuPont Corian has been fabricated to create interior wall cladding that is fitted with pegs in order to display a mix of can designs from around the world, whilst the company’s surfaces also help form the bar top in the restaurant which incorporates wireless charging technology for smartphones
DuPont Corian Deep Nocturne, an ultra jet black shade, was chosen for Tincan to produce a dark, intense and durable colour that has improved wear performance and provides easier fabrication and fitting.
AL_A aimed to transform the tin into an object of desire’ in an environment, with over 30 different tins with high quality seafood being sold to eat in the restaurant or to takeaway from the shop.
The architecture and design company came up with the Tin project idea whilst designing a new cultural centre in Lisbon, where they came upon a former fishing tackle shop which had been transformed into a vibrant restaurant serving only tinned seafood.
