Metro cladding achieves accredited sustainability status at new build

  • 13 Oct 2014

Approximately 500m2 of Stockholm cladding was specified to provide a high strength and durable solution which is aesthetically pleasing and can be used to create unusual designs.

Drylining and facades specialist, Conneely Group, fitted the cladding onto the development, which consists of 320 student accommodation rooms and forty, two, three and four bedroom properties.

The 15,000m2 new build was completed in June 2014 and houses a retail shop, cafe, restaurant and enterprise incubator, with the Metro cladding being chosen for use by Alford Hall Monaghan Morris.

The Code for Sustainable Homes is the national standard for the sustainable design and construction of new homes and aims to reduce carbon emissions by measuring the sustainability of a new home against categories of design.

The student housing development also achieved a BREEAM pre-assessment rating of Very Good, the environmental assessment method which sets the standard for best practice in sustainable building design construction.

The Metro fibre cement external decorative cladding boards are available in 26 colours, with the range offering external claddings in through colour, transparent glaze, semi transparent glaze, or opaque surface coating.

The boards are resistant against bad weather, dirt, humidity and fungal invasion to offer a long life cycle.
