The presentation, which was delivered to CIBSE Young Engineers Network, examined the ways in which 3D printing was used in building services manufacturing and focused on how it was rolled out during the development of Monodraught’s Cool-phase system.
A series of short presentations were given surrounding leading-edge technologies that are transforming the way that modern building service engineers work, looking at the way that computer aided design and IT networks allows them to work from anywhere in the world.
Monodraught’s second presentation was led by Senior Research Engineer, Dr Zsolt Bako-Biro, and covered the Analytical and experimental modelling of energy storage in phase change material for natural cooling of buildings.’
Two installations were discussed including the evaluation of the innovative phase change material (PCM) technology that was achieved by installing Cool-phase systems in two control’ areas in Anglia Ruskin University.
The second explored how a Science Lecture Room at Bournemouth University was fitted with two new Cool-phase systems to provide natural cooling, with the Monodraught team carrying out full dynamic thermal modelling to predict that the systems would dissipate heat gains across all parts of the building.
The full presentation will be available to view in the CIBSE Journal and other leading industry journals.
