The UK’s largest gym operator The Gym Group has installed Kentec Syncro AS fire alarm control panels in 21 locations across the country.
The Gym Group operates across the UK, having accumulated over 500,000 members in the six years since the company was founded. The gym plans to have 80 24-hour gyms across the country by the end of the year.
Installed at 21 of the Gym Group’s latest locations, the fire safety systems have been engineered and installed by independent system specialists Souther Fire Alarms.
The system uses Kentec Syncro AS fire control panels combined with Hochiki open communications protocol to protect gym members and staff.
The 24-hour member access means that the gyms are not always staffed, therefore consideration must be given to the positioning and accessibility of the fire control panels.
The use of Kentec’s tamper resistant windows meant that the fire alarm panels were protected from unauthorised access whilst allowing access to the LED display and Zonal indicators.
To allow for the needs of all gym members and staff – some of whom may suffer hearing impairments or use MP3 music devices whilst exercising – visual fire alarm indicators were also installed to provide an additional warning of alarm activation.
Kentec’s open protocol Syncro series of fire alarms is one of the most popular on the market, with high standards of performance, safety and reliability that busy sports venues demand.
