Royal Bournemouth Hospital has specified decorative Polysafe vinyl safety flooring to create a fresh interior at the hospital’s new Jigsaw Building.
Polysafe Wood fx PUR and Polysafe Modena PUR safety flooring were installed by Floorsure (Southern) Ltd, working closely with the main contractor Brymor Construction Ltd on the £5.7 million Jigsaw Building project.
The high clarity, timber effect Polysafe Wood fx flooring was chosen in American Oak alongside a neutral toned Polysafe Modena in Gypsum to help create a homely and less clinical environment.
A total of 2600m2 of the decorative safety flooring was fitted throughout the circulation areas, corridors, treatment rooms and reception areas.
Suitable for high traffic areas in the healthcare sector, the heavy commercial grade flooring coverings provide sustainable wet slip resistance for where there is a risk of water spillage.
Both design-led safety flooring ranges incorporate clear aluminium oxide safety particles though the performance layer of the vinyl. These are virtually invisible, ensuring an aesthetically pleasing yet safe floor finish.
Pam Griffiths, Clinical & Commissioning Project Co-Ordinator at Royal Bournemouth Hospital commented, “Polysafe flooring was the ideal choice for creating a fresh and clean look throughout our new Jigsaw Building that was a step away from the traditional, clinical look.
The safety credentials of these floorcoverings give us confidence that we have created a safe environment for both our patients and staff in this new facility.”
All Polysafe ranges meet the mandatory slip resistance requirements, achieving 26+ on the Pendulum Wet Test and full conformance to HSE Guidelines and EN 13845.
The Wood fx and Modena ranges also pass the 50,000 cycles abrasion test which demonstrates the sustainability of slip resistant performance.
Enhanced with cross linked and UV cured Polysafe PUR polyurethane reinforcement, the floorcoverings are easy to clean and offer reduced life cycle maintenance cost savings.
It can also be welded at the seams to provide a hygienic surface, offering no sanctuary to dirt and bacteria.
Polyflor’s safety flooring also contains recycled content and is 100 percent recyclable through the Recofloor vinyl take back scheme.
The flooring’s sustainability credentials are supported with the award of BES 6001 and certificated BRE Global A+ ratings, which helped contribute to the BREEAM credits earned during the building’s development.
