FLIR Systems has launched its MR176 Imaging Moisture Meter Plus, which utilises IGM (Infrared Guided Measurement) technology to identify the source of water leaks.
The meter’s in-built thermal imager indicates where to measure for leaks: it allows the user to see cold temperature patterns, which are invisible to the human eye. By following these patterns, which are associated with moisture evaporation, users can identify the spot that requires further testing.
The device can reveal the extent of the problem almost immediately, ensuring that the nature of the leak is understood before remedial action is undertaken.
A thermal scan with the FLIR MR176 can also reveal inadequacies with the evaporation process. Dehumidifying equipment can then be adjusted to get the drying process back on track.
The imaging moisture meter includes four thermal imaging colour palette options, pin and pinless moisture movements and customisable moisture and environmental readings for flexibility.
It also incorporates a thermo-hygrometer with a field-replaceable temperature/relative humidity sensor.
A series of probe accessories are available to enable measurements in difficult spots, such as in-cavity wall insulation, subfloor materials and rough surfaces.
FLIR also offers its Tools software package, which can be used to review, analyse and share the images taken on the camera. The programme also allows for the creation of reports.
