Slip resistant safety flooring specified for school’s chemistry labs

Withington Girls’ School in Fallowfield, Manchester has recently benefitted from the installation of Polysafe Corona PUR safety flooring.

Around 800m2 of the heavy duty safety flooring was fitted in the grey Seal shade as part of a refurbishment of the school’s chemistry department. The installation was carried out by Taylor Made Flooring to the laboratories, classrooms and corridors.

The state-of-the-art chemistry laboratories were refurbished as part of a £5 million development which was officially opened by The Duchess of Gloucester in September 2015.

Polysafe Corona PUR 

The Polysafe Corona PUR range of safety flooring is available in 12 shades and features a multi-chip decoration. It fully complies with HSE and UK Slip Group Guidelines to offer sustainable wet slip resistance throughout the products life span.

The flooring achieves 36+ on the Pendulum wet test (Slider 96/Four S rubber), has a surface roughness of 20 microns and above and adheres to EN 13845 – the European standard of safety flooring. 

EN 13845 requires all flooring to meet a 50,000 cycles abrasion test, making Polysafe Corona an ideal choice for areas where there is a risk of slip hazards such as the school’s chemistry and food technology classrooms.

Advanced maintenance benefits

The floorcovering also features Polysafe PUR, a cross linked and UV cured polyurethane reinforcement for optimum appearance, colour retention and soil release.

It also offers advanced maintenance benefits, meaning that life cycle maintenance cost savings of up to 60% are achievable over a 15 year period when compared to untreated flooring.

The flooring contains recycled material and is 100% recyclable via the Recofloor vinyl take back scheme. The collection has also achieved an individually certificated BRE Global A+ rating (ENP 472) for education environments to help maximise a BREEAM score.
