Mitsubishi Electric has released a new animation, which looks at the concept of using a single energy loop to deliver energy efficient heating and cooling across a whole community.
Mitsubishi Electric created the short film to show how an energy loop can benefit established networks and communities, as well as an individual building.
By producing a dedicated heat map and a Code of Practice on surface water source heat pumps, the Government has offered its support to the use of energy loops as the animation shows.
The animation examines the use of solar energy, which is organically captured in lakes and rivers. It proceeds to explore how natural renewable energies, which can be harvested from our environment, can be used to provide heating and cooling from a single energy loop for a building or a larger community.
Heat pumps can be connected to the energy loop; this allows for the transfer of low grade heat from one part of the building, or community, to another.
Mitsubishi Electric believes that, by capturing the by-product of heating and cooling, we can cater for different types of buildings with an assortment of energy requirements.
By using an energy loop as the animation shows, the company also believes that building designers can significantly reduce the space required for dedicated building services.
