John Douglas Home was recently refurbished by Fife Council as part of an investment in its ageing social housing stock. Social housing is home to over 7 percent of the UK population, so every refurbishment requires careful planning to minimise disruption to residents.
With this in mind, the fast curing Sikafloor Pronto flooring system was installed as part of the regeneration of the development’s roofs, balconies and walkways.
The system was specified for a its fast curing application which minimises downtime, whilst providing a visually attractive, watertight and non-slip finish.
Any external flooring system must prioritise impact resistance and watertightness during specification.
Following preparation of the existing surface, the Sikafloor 10 Pronto primer was applied before a Sikafloor Pronto base-coat. The system was completed with the application of the Sikafloor 18 Pronto, which was specified for its reliable anti-slip properties and attractive finish.
The fast curing application means that the refurbishments were carried out at John Douglas Home with minimal disruption to residents. Sikafloor Pronto can be applied in a wide range of climatic conditions and is specifically suitable for lower temperatures, making it ideal for the harsh Scottish winter weather.
The John Douglas Home project was completed within budget with minimal disruption to the residents, ensuring the client’s needs and expectations were met.
