PVCu render beads for veteran residential development

PVCu render beads shipped to provide residential support for veterans

Renderplas has recently stepped in to help the Walking with the Wounded Charity, as part of DIY SOS’s ‘Big Build’ project. Its PVCu render beads have been used in a new residential project for veterans in Manchester.

The company was recently contacted by the producers of BBC’s DIY SOS; the show’s team were on set, and about to render an entire street. Unfortunately, they had no render beads to work with.

With over 1 million metres of PVCu beads for render and plaster in stock, Renderplas was happy to donate a consignment of its render beads to help them out. Within hours of receiving the call, the company had dispatched everything DIY SOS needed to complete its ‘Big Build’ charity project.

Residential support for veterans

The project brought Manchester City Council and Adactus Housing Group together with Walking with the Wounded and Haig Housing, to create several large adapted residential homes for veterans and their families.

A veteran walk-in support and advice centre was made out of empty properties, and improvements were made to give disabled access to all 62 properties.

The aim of the project was to create a community for veterans, with a private space for Walking with the Wounded to run its therapy and counselling services. The development will also offer training, employment and an opportunity for wounded veterans to integrate back into society after the Forces.
